The quality/reception of OTA antennae vary greatly...

...and is dependant on geographic location in relation to the transmitter. For now , I use Sling coupled with a "local only" cable package w/Comcast , which runs about $60/mo. for cable / internet. I tried the flat digital ant. but it didn't get all my locals and some were choppy as well , however one if my neighbors has a figure 8 type digital ant. that gets all the locals with no issues. No amplifiers , attic/external mounting ,etc. Just hanging on the side of his TV stand. FWIW...I live about 20-30+ miles from all the towers in my area in SWVA. Though I don't know the brand(sorry) , I'm going to switch to this for my locals when my one year contract is up. I think the ant.is about $80 , but after that one time cost my TV us only going to be $20 /mo....with the occasional seasonal addition of "extra" packages , which thru Sling are only $10/mo. and can be added/cancelled on a monthly basis.
